Temenos partners with Yugabyte for data services

Data software provider Temenos has partnered with database solution company Yugabyte to help power the core banking capabilities of Temenos’ open platform for composable banking.

As part of the new partnership, YugabyteDB, Yugabyte’s distributed structured query language database will be available to banking clients who choose to run Temenos open platform on their own infrastructure.

YugabyteDB’s houses an acknowledged full code compatibility with the open source PostgreSQL database query language.

The database will also be available to banking clients who run Temenos’ platform on their own public cloud instances, on-premises, or in their private or hybrid clouds.

Through the partnership, the two companies look to achieve low latency for cloud and on-premises financial service client deployments, as well as avoidance of customer security programme lock-ins or dependencies for any Temenos service or client.

Commenting on the partnership, Tony Coleman, chief technology officer at Temenos, says: “Yugabyte brings exceptional technology performance, scale, and resilience to this partnership. Along with its unrivalled global database expertise and its service capabilities, YugabyteDB was a natural fit with our vision for the future of our technology cloud based proposition.”

Bill Cook, CEO of Yugabyte, comments: “Temenos has long recognised the critical value of cloud-native for its demanding market. A horizontal scale-out cloud-native database was the required element to support Temenos’ ambitious plans, so we are honoured to help integrate Yugabyte into its highly sophisticated architecture to enable future mutual success.”
